Terry's day gets off to a bad start, but soon changes when he wins money on a premium bond.

June recounts a fairy tale dream at breakfast and later in the day it appears to have come true.

Sir Dennis is keen to capture the European market and lunches with Swiss businessman Mr. Henri. Malcolm and Terry then both lie and impress Sir Dennis by telling him that they regularly watch European TV via their satellite dishes.

Sir Dennis wants Terry to stand as a councillor and get into the local council so they can sell more fire extinguishers. If he fails to get elected he faces a transfer to the company's Iceland office.

Malcolm's continuous affairs with younger women cause a bust up between himself and Beattie, when he receives a Christmas card from another woman.

When Terry’s friend Malcolm asks him to hide the Christmas present he has bought for his wife, June finds it hidden under the bed and mistakenly thinks Terry has bought it for her.

Terry gets a brand new company car but has a run of bad lack. First he nearly collides with a police car, then the car ends up being stolen. Luckily the car gets returned undamaged, but then his troubles really begin...

Terry's Boss, Sir Dennis, appoints his nephew to an executive position in the company. He starts to fire long standing members of staff and replace them with young, fresh thinking ones. As a result, the new blood hire a local disco for the staff's annual dance - Terry and June decide to learn by attending a 'disco dancing for beginners' class.

Terry's nephew, Alan comes to stay when he lands a job for a cash & carry firm in London. This turns into a nightmare when Terry is arrested on suspicion of being a fraudster!

Terry and June play the cow in the office pantomime but have difficulty getting out of their costume when the hall is evacuated because of a fire scare.

When Terry sees some graffiti on a wall, he is disappointed by teenagers' inability to spell. He becomes depressed that the younger generation has no role models. The neighbours suggest that he help their nephew in a competition.

Late at night, Terry and June are reading and she is enjoying a horror story. When tapping starts on the window, she begs him to find out what it is. When he brings in a bird, she decides she wants pets of her own.

The Medfords take up golf, but when they run into problems with other members at the club, they begin to wonder whether they are cut out for the sport.

Sir Dennis Hodge wrongly assumes Terry has invited him to Christmas lunch. Things escalate when Miss Fennel and Malcom and Beattie also invite themselves. It ends up with Terry and June having a full house on Christmas Day.

Terry's boss is furious when blueprints for a new talking fire extinguisher go missing.

Terry's quest for a more youthful look and the perfect body causes June to take drastic action of her own.

The vicar asks the Medfords to give a talk at their local old folks' club. He also suspects there is a fraudulent bingo game going on and asks Terry to straighten it out.

Tarquin and Melinda pay a visit to show their home movies. This gives Terry the idea to buy a tent from a work colleague so June and him can go camping. As a trial they set up the tent in the back garden.

While on a train journey, Terry manages to knock himself unconscious helping a lady retrieve her luggage.

Terry and June end up getting involved in hospital radio when Malcolm is admitted after a heart attack.

Terry decides to get rid of the sand pit in his garden and replace it with a nice ornamental pool.

Tornado Terry takes up snooker but sells his snooker table, then tries to buy it back as he discovers it might be an antique table...

The Medfords get new neighbours - Tarquin and Melinda. Terry is concerned about his lawnmower as the previous tenant did not return it to him before he left. Tarquin refuses to return it as it has been signed for as part of their household inventory. Terry decides, with the help of his nephew Alan, to do a night time raid on the neighbours' garden shed to get it back!

Terry takes up CB radio and ends up getting stuck in the back of a removal van!

The duo attend a beloved uncle's funeral, but June is unaware of the chaos to follow.

When Tarquin and Melinda get a new front door ,June decides she would like one, but Terry is too mean to have the new one fitted and does it himself.

Terry becomes the proud owner of a video recorder, but disaster strikes when he offers to record a programme for the company chairman.

Terry and June are moving to Purley and it seemed a good idea to redecorate the house before moving in. But then they learn of its sinister 'reputation'.

Terry and June experience problems with 'industrial relations' when they have new wardrobes fitted in their bedroom.

Terry gets the chance to apply for a job in the new branch based in Brussels. Sir Dennis invites himself round for dinner but things start to go wrong when Terry's nephew Alan drops in, together with four Japanese businessmen.

Problem-solving causes its own difficulties for the middle-aged couple

After June hears a burglar trying to break into their house she decides it's time to buy a burglar alarm. Terry decides it would be easier and cheaper to make his own one, which involves recording a fierce dog barking!

The heat is on as the couple decide to have a summer barbecue - but things don't quite go according to plan.

It's June's birthday and Terry arranges for his secretary to buy a gift for her so he can keep it secret. Things go wrong and Terry is accused of having an affair!

Terry decides to take up woodworking, while Tarquin sets up a noise abatement group to try and curb noise from a neighbour who is learning to play the drums.
