We take viewers through the essential kit, training and planning that is needed for high-level VIP Close Protection as the team strives to protect the Minister while she travels by car, goes on walks and attends meetings. We reveal the survival secrets of defensive driving and the technology and weapons used when driving in convoy. And we show how elite forces deploy escape and evasion techniques to protect a VIP when confronted with an attack.

British Minister Long continues her visit to the fictional war-torn country of Mostovia. Eddie’s four-man bodyguarding team has been tasked with her protection. Using extensive archive and reconstruction, former SAS Sergeant Eddie Stone reveals how a close protection team reacts to various threats and armed attacks. When the team hands over protection responsibilities to the local authorities, the Minister and the Mostovian Prime Minister are abducted by terrorists. We look at how they survive the rigours of being taken hostage. Meanwhile, Stone and his team return in a counter-terrorist/Iranian embassy siege role and prepare an immediate assault on the terrorist stronghold. The scenario is fictitious, but the techniques and specialist skills shown are real, based on SAS procedure.

British Minister Long’s visit to the fictional war-torn country of Mostovia has ended in disaster. She and the Mostovian Prime Minister have been taken hostage by terrorists. Eddie’s four-man bodyguarding team has been tasked with their rescue. After the Prime Minister is murdered by the terrorists, they have no choice but to storm the building and rescue the surviving hostages. We reveal how a counter-terrorist team prepares for and conducts a building assault. We look at the various methods of entry (from explosives to Land Rovers) used by the SAS. We examine the training and skills needed in the room to room fighting of Close Quarter Battle, and find out whether Eddie and his team manage to rescue the Minister safely. The scenario is fictitious, but the techniques and specialist skills shown are real, based on SAS procedure. In this episode, John McAleese reunites for the first time with Sim Harris, the man whose life he saved in the Iranian Embassy siege.

In a special one-off scenario, Eddie’s team takes part in the dramatic capture of a war criminal who is hiding in his base deep behind enemy lines. For this mission, a whole Sabre fighting squadron (incorporating Boat, Air, Mobility and Mountain troops) is deployed for the task. Air Troop sky-dives in from high altitude to recce the target. Boat Troop, in high-speed Gemini dinghies, infiltrates from the sea, dropping off Mountain Troop, which scales the cliffs to set up a secure beach head. The squadron then advances inland to attack the enemy stronghold. Mobility Troop provides covering fire with their machine-guns and mortars. Will Eddie get his man and bring him out alive?

Eddie Stone and John McAleese talk candidly about how to get into the SAS and about life inside the world’s most elite regiment. We look at the rigorous selection process faced by recruits – how the Regiment whittles down the hundreds of applicants who think they are good enough to a handful of exceptional soldiers. But passing selection is only the first step to becoming an SAS trooper; we examine how to survive continuation training and what it takes to become operationally effective. Eddie and John talk extensively about their lives in the Regiment: training, combat, the esprit de corps and how their careers have fared since leaving.
