In the process, relationships are tested, ruined and sparked. Meanwhile, Carlotta's salon is under fire in more ways than one, turning everyone's world upside-down.

The ASAs finally arrive and Take 3 fights Amber Drake for the top spot. Alex prepares for her wedding, but someone from her past returns to wreak havoc on her big day. Meanwhile, Star finally makes a decision about Davis, Carlotta continues to mend things with Rashad and the season ends with a bang.

Under Mateo's hand, Gravity Media's finances are in the gutter and the team must pull off a successful ASA party to get back in the game. Carlotta returns and jumps right back into cleaning up everyone's mess. Cassie closes in on Xander and digs into the past, after her father's bombshell. Star struggles to juggle Davis and her career, and clashes with Noah's mom, Dianne. Meanwhile, Alex plans for her future and Simone doubles down on her activism, which puts Angel in danger.

While preparing for an upcoming TV appearance with recording artist Noah Brooks, the girls quickly learn that they will be singing backup instead of co-headlining the performance. Anxious for the girls' next big move, Carlotta turns to the new A&R executive, Maurice, for help on a new deal. Meanwhile, Jahil tries his hand at producing music, Cotton struggles with starting her new job and Star comes face-to-face with an unexpected person from her past.

Alex and Noah finally get Star's approval, but the relationship is tested by a run-in with groupies. Then, Maurice's job is on the line when Ayanna returns to the label and quickly learns that Natalie, the regional promoter he's brought on, is up to no good. Also, Cotton tries to connect her identity and her past, and Derek is at odds with grandma Ruby.

Simone and Alex prepare to compete against newcomer Amber for their ASA performance. Noah's father, Bobby, returns to help Noah with his sobriety and fatherhood. Meanwhile, Miss Christine, Cousin Duke and Cousin Rashad come to town, much to the chagrin of Carlotta and Cassie. Then, Leon makes Cotton an offer.

With all of the flack the label is catching from the tragic police incident, Ayanna must quickly restore Midtown's image. Desperate for a spot in the showcase, the girls work on convincing hot recording artist Joyce Sheree to sing a featured verse on one of their songs.
