Cash-strapped Sally Wilson is struggling to support herself and her desperately ill daughter when she is informed that she has been bequeathed five million pounds by an anonymous benefactor. But there is a horrifying catch - she will only receive the money if she kills someone who deserves to die. Sally is shocked and appalled - but when her boyfriend Mark establishes that the offer is genuine, she cannot help but wonder about the possibility of helping her daughter, who will die without expensive medical treatment.
