When Judge Wilbur's going to be honored, Joey, Michael, and Nicole think that it would nice for some her friends and family were there. Only problem is that they don't know any of her friends and family and if she has any. So they do a little snooping around and find some of her things that were hidden and in it is a picture of her and someone named Louis and they thought he was a friend so they invite him. Only thing he came under the assumption that they told her that he was and when they meet, Judge Wilbur's not happy to see him. They (Joey, Michael, and Nicole) learn that he's her ex-husband. It seems that years ago she thought her career was more important, so they went their separate ways. They arrange for her and Louis to be alone together, and they make peace.

Joey's old high school flame comes back to New York, and gets attracted to Michael.

Joey is stunned when he learns that his girlfriend Sarah, and her baby Gracie are both moving away to San Francisco.

Joey learns about an opening for an art teacher but he lacks the college degree required. He returns to school but discovers his instructor is Mr. Kelcher who he clashed with in the past.

It's the homecoming dance at Nicole's school. And the teacher in charge goes to see Joey and Michael to see if they have any suggestions. They're both taken with her and they come up with a girls asking out the boys. And Nicole finds herself in a delicate position cause this where she decides if she wants to be with Cory or Zach. And when she makes her choice, someone else asks him out.

Shelby is dating a guy whom Nicole says is a creep. But Shelby ignores her. So to prove it to her, Nicole goes on a double date with them and the guy's friend. And sure enough his true self comes out but Shelby finds it hard to accept.

Through a series of dreams, Nicole has a chance to see what life would have been like if her mother had married either Michael or Joey.

Nicole's longing for a brother turns into a longing for equal time after the dads fulfill her request.

Joey feels picked on and Nicole feels deprived of her time with Cory when Michael's mother comes to visit.

In the series grand finale, Joey's girlfriend Sarah wants to get married.. with another guy. Joey stops the wedding and gets back together with Sarah, and is faced with a tough choice. Move to San Francisco, or stay with Nicole in New York.

Nicole enters a Rock TV music channel contest in which Nicole wins and gets to go on a musical dream date of her choice... and her dads get to live out their own fantasies in the process. Michael playing the piano live in front of a national TV audience, and Joey playing basketball.. with Dr. J? Nicole learns she's not considered part of the in crowd and considers extreme measures to change her status. Joey's girlfriend won't accept their breakup so he makes up a new romance.

Joey finally gets himself in the paper.. in the obituary section? Joey Marris's obituary, printed as Joey Harris, finally appears in the paper as dead; leaving art galleries calling to Joey for loads of money for his artwork, and pretending that he is dead.

Michael and Joey's parenting styles continue to clash so they decide submit to a DNA test. They agree that whoever is not the biological father will step aside. While waiting for the results they learn something more important.

When 14 year old Nicole comes home with liquor on her breath, the Dads employ their own brand of shock therapy: a vivid and frightening demonstration of the dangers of alcohol abuse.

Joey's rock-star friend thinks Joey is spending too much time under the influence---of Michael.

Joey and Michael anticipate their first Christmas with Nicole, but she's ignoring the holidays, her first without her mother.

Frustrated by how much time Nicole is spending with Zach -- and by the fact they seem to be invisible when the two are together -- Michael and Joey declare that she must date someone else for awhile.

After Joey strikes out with a woman, Michael is a hit, but the victory is short-lived when the woman turns out to be Judge Wilbur's niece -- who's engaged.

In the pilot, two buddies who were once in love with the same woman reunite at the reading of the woman's will, where they learn that one of them -- but not which one -- fathered her 12-year-old daughter and that both are to share custody of the girl.

A group of friends helps the dads survive Nicole's week away at camp.
