Six couples preparing for the biggest day of their lives try to win their families' blessing. The first episode features 24-year-old politics student Dee from Hull, whose grandad Paul has never been able to comprehend her relationship with 59-year-old local councillor John. Elsewhere, Cambridgeshire builder Rob wants to know why his parents seem to have taken no interest in his wedding to Simon. Plus, Shaaba and Jamie from Colchester are recently engaged, but for Shaaba's mother Fai, her daughter's choice of partner is far from ideal.

In this episode, 20-year-olds Jack and Chloe from Aldershot have recently got engaged, but Chloe's mum Debra believes they are too young to get married. Rob, 38, and events manager Simon, 31, from Cambridgeshire, are one month away from getting hitched. This won't be Rob's first wedding. He was previously married to a woman, and since coming out six years ago, his parents have struggled to come to terms with their son's sexuality. Graduates Shaaba and Jamie, both 23 years old, from Colchester, are planning their engagement party. For Shaaba's mum Fai, the engagement isn't cause for celebration. Fai finds it hard to accept that her daughter is marrying someone who is transgender. In an attempt to break the deadlock, she agrees to meet Jamie face-to-face to talk about it. But the meeting doesn't go quite as planned.

In Aldershot, 21-year-old Jack and 20-year-old Chloe are pushing ahead with their wedding plans - but Chloe's mum is still set against the marriage. Debra is struggling to properly trust Jack. Chloe hatches a plan to get Debra and Jack to meet. Twenty-three-year-old graduates Shaaba and Jamie, from Colchester, are counting down to their engagement party. But the fact that Jamie is transgender is still a major stumbling block for Shaaba's mum Fai. Jamie makes another attempt to bring Fai round. But with little sign of progress, it's Jamie and Shaaba's relationship that's starting to come under pressure. And with Rob and Simon just days away from their wedding, and with Rob's dad Steve growing more accepting of his son's sexuality, Rob now tries to get him mum Linda on board, with a surprise request.

In south London, 38-year-old Junior is desperate to marry his 27-year-old girlfriend Sobiah - who is Muslim. Before Junior can propose, he has to convert to Islam. But winning his family's support won't be easy as Junior was raised a strict Christian. Junior travels to Jamaica to break the news to his father and to try to win his blessing. Shaaba and Jamie continue to persuade Shaaba's mum Fai to accept the fact that Jamie's transgender. And with Jack and Chloe from Aldershot a week away from tying the knot, can Jack finally win over Chloe's mum Debra?

In Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland, 20-year-old Shane is planning to propose to his 37-year-old girlfriend Elaine. Elaine's family are opposed to the relationship due to the 17 year age gap. In the face of family objections, the couple throw an engagement party in the hope of winning over the doubters. In south London, Junior hopes to convert to Islam in order to marry his girlfriend Sobiah, who's Muslim. Raised in a devout Christian family, Junior is desperate to get his dad's blessing before the conversion. The couple have to put their wedding plans on hold while they await dad's verdict. In Aldershot, it is the day of 20-year-old Chloe and 21-year-old Jack's wedding. Determined that everyone will be behind them, Chloe has finally got her mum on board. But with nerves running high, will old tensions surface on the big day?
