When Hurricane Katrina devastates Louisiana, Gypsy and her mother, Dee Dee, are relocated to Springfield, Missouri. There, Gypsy comes to the grim realization she’s addicted to pain medication. And when Gypsy runs away to be with her new boyfriend, there will be hell to pay.

Less than two weeks before her wedding, cold feet and past loves haunt Gypsy and threaten her impending nuptials. While some family members plead with Gypsy to postpone the wedding, her fiance meets with them and argues otherwise. After running away, Gypsy is lured home by her mother with promises of freedom and independence.
