Adam Wilde returns to his home town of South Heads to take up the position of student counsellor at South Coast University. But it's a bitter-sweet appointment for Adam. His predecessor was tragically killed four weeks earlier in a car crash, along with three other locals. Adam discovers a community still reeling from the loss and also struggling with the mystery that surrounds the accident. The car's driver, Craig, now in a coma, is the only person who has the answers to the question on everyone's lips - what really happened that night?

The battle is still on between Freya and Sasha. Sasha finds one more piece of information which might prove Freya's real intention for good. Maddie decides to go back home to her dad, Mick and sister Helen. Wiley enters her room in the middle of the night which will have irremediable consequences. Mel and Andy's relationship is taking a new turn. Toby's debt is almost paid off and Kate is thinking of quitting her job. While Adam have definitely stopped his relationship with MJ, his feelings towards Kate are becoming increasingly ambiguous.

Love is hovering over Headland: Craig and Maddie are becoming more intimate; Grace and Palermo' relationship is taking a more serious turn; Mill and Kate seem to enter a more peaceful and happy phase. There is one exception though: Freya and Heath's wedding is cancelled. Toby's debt is now paid off and Kate stopped her pole dancing. Maddie's willingness to help will have tragic consequences for the Forbes family.

Greg's romance with Freya is now publically known. This creates a huge scandal in Headland. Sasha, devastated by the whole publicity, is worried about her mother going missing. Her lack of self-control adds even more drama and spice to the already disastrous situation . Freya takes this opportunity to exhibit herself as the victim and gains Adam's sympathy. Meanwhile, Kieran is trying to gain Mel's favour back. Grace is putting some tremendous effort to make Palermo feel at his place in his new home.

Palermo's son and ex-wife are showing up at Grace's apartment. This new intrusion in Grace's life complicates her already fragile relationship with Palermo. Things between Andy and Mel are also becoming more complicated when Andy surprises Mel and Kerian at the shoot of a commercial. Greg is thinking of selling Headlands Hotel. Will finally finds out that his wife has been working as a pole dancer!

Will has difficulties in forgiving Kate for her temporary job. Toby becomes furious after Kate warns him about Sasha by revealing her affair with Will. Palermo visit in the city seems to be a success and even brings him closer to Grace. Palermo promises Nathan to be more attentive to him in the future. Maddie wants to make up for her "faux pas" and starts to write an article with Sasha's help. The article gets published and the repercussions will take Freya out of the Headland sight for good.

Nathan shows up at Palermo and Graces' place. He expresses the wish to stay with them for a little while. This places Grace in an awkward and undesired position. Will and Kate' marriage is in trial. Will does not seem to be able to forgive Kate and Kate ends up again in the arms of Adam. Toby wants to go back home and suggests Kate to come with him. Kate finally accepts. Craig is moving into the hotel and tries at the same time to break up with Maddie but fails in telling her the truth.

Sasha succeeds in gaining a new position at the hotel. However, Heath remains suspicious about the new ownership and the changes in the hotel policies. Toby informs Will that Kate and himself are leaving that night. Will, under panic, acts foolishly. However, all he wants is to save his marriage. Will Kate accept despite his unwise attitude? Nathan has adapted very well to the Headland environment. He is not quite eager to go home with his mother.

The situation is still very complicated at the Palmer's house. Palermo and his ex-wife finally comes to a custody agreement whose stipulations are not to Grace's taste. Craig is still trying to terminate his relationship with Maddie. He has another girl in mind. Andy is starring in a commercial which will end up being a very embarrassing experience. Kate has eventually decided to stay. However, Toby has not changed his mind. What will become of Sasha? Will surprises a conversation between Adam and Kate which suggesting that they should remain "just" friends...

Grace, informed by Palermo, warns Craig about Charlie's bad influence. Heath starts working at the gym and finds a client who happens to be an ex-boyfriend of Elly. Adam and Sasha are trying to clarify the situation and Sasha agrees to start from scratch and pretend that nothing happened. Is Sasha really relieved about this decision? Elly is out for a drink with Heath and hopes to re-activate a more intimate relationship. Heath however is not in the same mood!

Maddie discovers Craig in bed with Charlie. The computers in the College computer lab have been stolen and Palermo is on the case. Charlie asks Craig for a very daring favour. Craig accepts, taking the risk of being exposed to Palermo's suspicion. Mel does not appreciate Andy's new popularity among the female students. Adam and Sasha have decided to reiterate their romantic adventure and go out for a date. Palermo realizes that Craig has not been totally honest with him neither.

Charlie, despite her attempt to run away, is stopped by Palermo. Charlie still refuses to speak and Craig keeps on defending her. Pamela, Kate's mother, is poisoning the couple and wants her daughter to renounce her marriage. Andy moves in Maddie's former room. He does not seem too affected by his recent break-up! Will's parents are having a birthday party and feel compelled to invite Pamela. The party ends up in a state of turmoil, especially after the party finds out that Rob, Will's father, has disappeared after he was excused from his job.

The search for Rob will bring Kate's and Will's families closer, especially after Pamela reveals a much softer and undisguised side. Although Adam and Sasha have been trying very hard to keep their relationship secret at the College, Gareth, taking the advantage of surprising them flirting, succeeds in having Adam suspended from his job. Charlie is in danger, after Jack, her ex-boyfriend, informed of her betrayal, runs away from the police and looks for her. In the meanwhile, Nathan decides to visit Charlie. Jack is also on his way. Palermo shows up shortly after. A inevitable tragedy is about to happen.
