The programme was originally based on the CNBC U.S. programme Market Wrap, which was later replaced by the programme Closing Bell. The show followed the final moments of trade across Europe and went on location to reporters who gave the action from their respective areas. Throughout the show, US market updates were also included. Like its US counterpart, European Market Wrap was eventually replaced by European Closing Bell.
