As the main interior work approaches completion, Amanda takes the girls go on a camping trip under the stars in Swaledale, and heads to a local antiques shop in search of a traditional Yorkshire fireplace to restore and fit into Anty John's new living room. Derek the historian takes Amanda, Clem and Nancy to the church where the house's former owner got married.

It's summer and the children are making the most of the school holidays, swimming in the stream and going off in search of their new peacock chicks. Sid and Amanda inspect a vital bridge that's collapsed on the track up to Anty John's, and Raven returns to help celebrate Nancy's ninth birthday with the rest of the family.

A second Christmas during the Owens' farmhouse renovation is fast approaching, and Amanda and the kids are preparing their farm animals and pets for the cold weather. Richard is keen to get doors fitted so that the house is protected from the elements, while Amanda and her daughter Clemmie meet historian Derek to walk in the footsteps of Anty John's former occupant, diarist Anthony Clarkson.

The Owens prepare for Clive's 70th birthday, Amanda worries about a premature newborn calf, and Clemmie and Annas are hoping to seal a deal to buy their first ever sheep. Reuben, Clive and Sid set to work on repairing the road bridge up to Anty John's, where the underfloor heating is finally about to be turned on, much to the kids' delight.

As autumn turns to winter, the antique fireplace is installed, the horses are re-shoed and Annas, Clemmie and Nancy are put through their sheepdog paces.

With planning permission granted, it's full steam ahead as builder Richard helps the family to plan their highly challenging renovation. But the wet and windy autumn weather takes hold...

Amanda and Clive will be busy tending to their flock while managing the energetic antics of their children, making for some entertaining moments on the farm. As the family works to ensure that the lambing goes smoothly, they also face the challenge of making their home renovation watertight.

The planners agree that renovation can extend into the adjacent barn. Anty John's is set to become a four-bedroom family home. Richard's crew finish the concrete floor, mixing and pouring each barrow by hand. Amanda meets a distant Clarkson relative.
