Ryan shows up from Wichita, Kansas and surprises his brother Brent by coming to see him at Who's Who where he and a bunch of starving wannabes meet for an acting class taught by Who's Who owner David. Brent takes Ryan to his apartment where he quickly ditches him knowing he is late on rent. Hours later Ryan comes to find out the truth about his brother. Not only did Brent take his money he sent weeks before for rent for the apartment but Brent is also a drug user. Because the apartment is behind on rent and Ryan can't seem to find Brent anywhere the landlord kicks him out leaving him homeless with nothing. Another perk of being friends with owner David at Who's Who is that they get the chance to perform in front of an actual audience. Suzanne is the one performing and a famous singer named Owen Black finds her quiet interesting. He later asks her if she would mind sharing her music with him and even sing with him on his album. After Brent leaves Ryan high and dry he joins the ranks of the other tenants, employees, and acting class students thanks to David who takes him. Although given help Ryan can't stop worrying about Brent and continues to look for him. Lili blows the ""big"" audition and asks her new found friend Robert for help. Marcus goes behind David's back trying to save the club from closing and gets David's ex-girlfriend to invest in the club. When David discovers Marcus's scheme he fires him. Owen Black makes it his personal duty to make a naive Suzanne feel that her song and she will become a huge success. Brent wanders the streets unaware that people are still worried about him. He later ends up back at Who's Who and on stage in front of everyone threatens to kill himself with a gun.

Suzanne discovers the motives behind Owen Black and literally decides to give up hope on her dreams. Later on Ryan tries to comfort a drunken Suzanne who pushes him away. Ryan sees her drive off and with Lili follows her to the Hollywood sign where she is contemplating to jump. Brent faces the truth about himself and apologizes to everyone including his Brother Ryan who forgives him. Lili meets a local tap dancer who tells her to feel the beat inside her heart. She later gets the job as a dancer in a music video. David finds a way to keep Who's Who open for the time being and decides to rehire Marcus but warns him to behave.
Fame L.A. is an American drama series that aired in syndication from 1997-1998. It told the story of a drama/dance school in Los Angeles where students honed their talents while overcoming various personal problems. It starred Christian Kane, Roselyn Sánchez, and William R. Moses. Its producers included Patricia Green. Among its directors were Sharron Miller and Nancy Malone. A total of 22 sixty-minute episodes were produced. 'RTÉ' Ireland's National public service broadcaster, is currently airing their own version of the show, titled, Fame: The Musical.
