As midterms loom at Bringston, Simone has a lot on her mind and ends up having a heart-to-heart with her line sisters; Damon is confused by his midterm grades and finds a creative solution to his situation; Cam is stuck in a precarious position.

Simone shows a different side of herself that does not go unnoticed as she reclaims her power on and off the court, but she must decide if that is the best strategy. Damon’s determination to ignore his unresolved relationship with Jessie leads to conflict and an uncertainty within the team. Cam has an unexpected visitor who will challenge him on his decision to pursue music, leaving Cam to turn to Keisha for support. As Amara settles into her new job, she receives an anonymous critique, making her realize that she needs to sacrifice something important to her. Meanwhile, JR and Nate find themselves revisiting the past, but each has a different outcome.

When JR is unable to take Simone to her appointment, Lando steps in; Lando and Simone help each other see the best in themselves; Simone makes a confession to someone important in her life.

Simone is trying to break her long-running tennis curse by acing her presentation and dealing with boy drama, but a blast from her past brings its own drama. Damon and Thea are all set for a weekend away until the pressure of the high-stakes game and interview messes with their plans. Marcus learns some disappointing news and turns to Amara (Kelly Jenrette) for support. Meanwhile, Cam plays matchmaker for JR, and a visit from a dance alum raises the bar for Keisha, and she’s not sure how to handle the pressure.

After the holiday break, Simone returns to Bringston ready to focus solely on tennis and learns what it’s really like to be top six. Damon is faced with a decision he’s been putting off since before the holidays. Frustrated with how Cam is treating her, Keisha reverts to her old ways and throws a last-minute New Year’s Eve party. Meanwhile, Amara and Coach Marcus try to adjust to their new environments and challenges.

When Simone is forced to fight for her spot on the tennis team, she encounters an unlikely adversary on the court; JR and Lando pitch the board to bring baseball back to Bringston; Cam makes a huge gamble resulting in a visit from Big Hank.

Simone finds herself once again at odds with her teammates. Damon is stressed about how his decision will affect those around him. Keisha is all in on her new dance major, but she must overcome a roadblock that she didn’t anticipate.

Simone is determined to return to tennis as a champion; JR thinks Noah may be hiding something; Gabi joins Cam at the recording studio and makes a discovery.

Simone and the gang rally around Amara as she struggles with what to do next as new information comes to light. Coach Marcus is excited about the all-HBCU baseball game he put together until an old teammate stirs up bad memories that could possibly derail everything. As Damon, JR and the team are focused on the game, they are faced with some challenging guests and new adversaries. Thea has a close call with danger which costs her one relationship and brings a potential new one into her life. Meanwhile, Simone struggles to explain to Jordan her friendship "break-up" with Damon.

After returning from break, Simone throws herself into distraction, including her tennis tournament, to avoid dealing with what's really bothering her. When Damon finds himself with more questions than answers, he finds help from Thea. With the help of Nathaniel, JR realizes he needs to change his narrative on how he sees himself after he has a viral game moment. Meanwhile, Amara inches closer to the issues going on with Bringston and Coach Marcus' paranoia is at an all-time high.

Simone is excited that Baby Shay is coming to town, but another visitor she wasn't expecting surprises her as well, thanks to Amara. Damon struggles on the field, while family drama could threaten his new bond with his mom. JR goes home to try to get to the bottom of what is going on with his parents, but not before he does something rash. Meanwhile, Cam helps to push Keisha to follow her dreams, but her decision could ruin an important relationship.

Simone's friends turn out for her on her 21st birthday; Keisha is concerned that she hasn't heard back from any graduate programs; Marcus struggles with making an important connection; JR talks to Lando about bringing baseball back to Bringston.

Simone gets ready to face one of the toughest matches of her career as the team comes up with an idea to get student support for the tennis team; JR finds a sponsor for the club team, but not everyone is on board with the choice; Keisha has an idea.

As Homecoming week continues, Simone grapples with her role on the tennis team and Thea receives some upsetting news. With Coach Marcus nowhere to be found, an interim coach steps in which creates conflict for Damon and JR as they try to win their most important game. Keisha throws herself into raising funds for Bringston in the hopes of helping to keep her chosen family together, while Cam makes a decision that could have major consequences. Meanwhile, Amara finds herself back in the spotlight with a surprising career opportunity.

When Simone is faced with her first college level tournament, she learns she has to conquer an unexpected bigger foe and gets some sage advice from Thea. Damon struggles with an assignment as it hits a little too close to home when it triggers some of his insecurities. As JR re-examines his identity, he gets advice from an unexpected source. Amara continues to fight her battle with President Allen and Bringston in her own way. Meanwhile, the gang rallies around Keisha as she tries to navigate her late mom's birthday on her own since her relationship with her father is strained.
