Cobbs is sold to a huge hotel conglomerate and Howard dreams of being made manager of a luxurious resort. He's informed he is staying, at the grocery store and must wear a smock. In frustration he quits.

While Edna is on vacation Molly, a woman from Howard's past, shows up with a boy who she claims is Howard's son. While Bannister adjusts to the idea of being a dad he also bonds with the teen Mickey.

Howard learns Viker has been kicked out by his wife and is sleeping at the store. Howard offers to house him temporarily with disastrous results. Banister works to reconcile the married couple and get his sanity back.

Howard hires a friend Curtis who's down on his luck as the store butcher. But the man's abrasive ways soon offend fellow employees and customers. Edna makes Howard realize that Curtis has always used and bullied him.

Gourmet food worth thousands of dollars vanishes.

Edna's outraged when an attractive health food representative expresses interest in Howard.

The attractive new cashier Kim makes her attraction to Howard clear and one evening tries to get amorous. Then Howard finds out Kim has a history of suing employers for sexual harassment and becomes worried.

An in-store bingo promotion is a big success until Mr. Christian examines the cards.

Jennifer, denied a raise, sues for discrimination.

Convinced that their six-year relationship has lost its magic, Edna issues Howard an ultimatum.

Jack organizes a car pool with his fellow employees but his van is not exactly road worthy. When they are in an accident Jack gets sued. Mr. Bannister assists Edna is pretending to be someone else to avoid traffic tickets.

Murray is the source of trouble when he starts an in-store dating service.

A pair of unwanted newcomers plagues Howard.

Alf becomes interested in Helen so Howard and Edna attempt to help things out. But Alf is feeling insecure around the classy lady and in trying to impress Helen in ruins a nice dinner.

The grocery crew believes they have a genuine shot of winning a bowling competition and the cash that does with it until Murray injures his arm. Howard decides to use a ringer Big Ed instead of girlfriend Edna causing hurt feelings.

Marlene comes to work with a flashy engagement ring and Edna asks to try it on. The jewelry gets stuck and when Edna's mother visits she is excited her daughter is finally getting married. Edna hesitates to clear up the misunderstanding.

A couple of food purists target Cobb's grocery for selling junk items causing mayhem for Howard and his staff.

Jack is taking a long awaited vacation and seems secure he's not easily replaceable. Edna is performing his duties but right before he's to leave jack learns Edna is in an important meeting and he panics.
